The Butterfly Project

Janet McGee is a 30-year proud resident of Pilot Point. She feels priviledge to have taught for 22 years in the Pilot Point School District. She retired in 2022. During her tenure, she met wonderful friends and co-workers. One particular friend, Jennifer Francy, is a fifth grade teacher who brought The Butterfly Project to her students after their studies of the Holocaust. The students painted a ceramic butterfly in honor of a child who lost their life during the Holocaust atrocity.
The Butterfly Project uses "history's darkest time " to teach students about hope, resilience, and kindness - helping them develop the courage to stand up to injustice in today's world.
Ms. McGee is working to have the 100 painted butterflies memorialized and has met with Elizabeth Jones and Chris Duncan to discuss a monument.
