At this week's Rotary meeting, our District Governor Andy Eads stopped by to tell us about #TheMagicOfRotary, share his Rotary story and offer some insights into the District's goals for the upcoming Rotary year.

Governor Eads was appointed head of Rotary District 5790 for the 2024-25 year. He is a member of the Cross Timbers Rotary Club in Flower Mound and has been attending Rotary for 20 years.

He spoke of his introduction to the Rotary organization through his wife's family. Ginger Eads' great-grandfather was the founding member of the Rotary Club in San Saba, Texas. Her grandfather joined the same club in 1953 and her grandmother became the first woman inducted into the club in 1989 when the Rotary organization began accepted women as members. Her grandmother prided herself on her Rotary perfect attendance, even attending when visiting Andy and his wife in Lewisville as a visiting member.

Ginger herself is also active in Rotary, serving in various capacities in the Cross Timbers Club and has been the District Treasurer previously.

District 5790 this year plans to focus on growing club membership. With more than 2500 members across 64 clubs in the district, it's one of the largest areas in the state for Rotary participation. They are looking to grow each club's active membership by 10 percent in the upcoming year.

Our district also has some fun gatherings coming up that Governor Eads reported on! On November 9, there will be a Foundation Gala at the Texas Motor Speedway. Tickets are $125. Additional information here
The District is also doing a Caribbean Cruise in February 2025! The 4-night cruise on Royal Caribbean will depart Feb. 13 and go between Galveston and Cozumel, with a Rotary service project conducted in Cozumel. Tickets start at $319 per person. Additional details and contact info here
