Aubrey Independent School District and Pilot Point Independent School District High School students attended the weekly Rotary meeting on February 11 as our Seniors of the Month.

Aubrey High School Students

This week, we had two stellar seniors from Aubrey join our club.

Kaci Killingsworth moved to Aubrey in eight grade and found her passion in playing the flute in the band. In addition to school band, she also performs with the Denton Youth Orchestra, even traveling to South Korea for a dual performance with a South Korean Youth Symphony. Of this experience, she said "we may not have spoken the same language, but we learned music is a universal language."
She has been accepted to UNT but still has her College of Music audition.

Alex Palencia moved to Texas from California his sophomore year. He bounced around a lot in his activities at Aubrey, trying his hand at cross-country among other things. He is in the National Honor Society and competes in UIL Academics, and also serves as manager for the Aubrey High School soccer team. He plans to go pre-med in school and either become a pediatrician or a traveling doctor.

Pilot Point High School Students

Two members of Pilot Point's National Honor Society joined us at our meeting this week.

Anneliese Helton is currently top in her class, while also enjoying participating in extra curricular activities such as FFA, competing on the varsity volleyball team and serving on Student Council. She also volunteers at the Early Childhood Education Center in the ISD. She has been taking dual-credit classes throughout high school and has so far been accepted to University of Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma University, where she plans to major in biology. Her Hometown Hero is former FFA teacher Hope Cotten, who introduced her to FFA and got her into the advocacy side, where she works to help implement more Spanish into FFA to try to help those who are bilingual get more involved.

Aiden Wall already has his life planned. His interests lie outside of traditional extra curricular activities, as he enjoys creative writing, 3D modeling, art and animations. He plans to attend UT-Dallas, who has an animation and gaming major, to further his interests. He also participates in the Shooting Club and competes in sporting clays and trap shooting.
